Your podcast journey, mapped from first idea to loyal audience

Every successful podcast follows a story arc — not just in its episodes, but in its creation. Below is the timeline we walk through with every client, from the earliest spark of an idea to a self-sustaining show with measurable audience traction. Each phase builds on the last, and we stay involved as long as you need us.

Phase one · weeks 1–2

Concept crystallisation

We sit down — virtually or in our Fort Andrewview studio — and interrogate the idea. Who is the listener? What gap does this show fill? We define the format (interview, narrative, hybrid, solo), episode cadence, ideal length, and tone. You leave this phase with a one-page show bible that anchors every decision that follows.

Phase two · weeks 2–3

Brand and sonic identity

Your podcast needs a voice before it has a voice. We design cover art direction, write the show description for Apple Podcasts and Spotify, compose an original intro and outro bed, and create segment stingers. If you need a trailer, we script and produce it here so you can start building anticipation before episode one drops.

Phase three · weeks 3–4

Pilot recording and production

We record a pilot episode — either remotely via our guided session workflow or on-site in our acoustically treated Queensland studio. The pilot goes through full post-production: noise reduction, EQ, compression, levelling, music integration, and a final master at -16 LUFS for streaming platforms. You hear the finished product and we refine until it feels right.

Phase four · week 4

Distribution and platform setup

We configure your hosting (we work with Captivate, Buzzsprout, and Transistor depending on your needs), submit your RSS feed to every major directory — Apple, Spotify, Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, Pocket Casts — and verify each listing. We also set up analytics dashboards so you can track downloads, listener geography, and retention from day one.

Phase five · ongoing

Episode production on retainer

This is where most of our client relationships live. You record, we handle everything else: editing, show notes, chapter markers, audiogram clips for social, transcript generation, and scheduling. Turnaround is 48 hours for standard episodes, 24 hours for rush. We adapt to weekly, fortnightly, or seasonal release patterns.

Phase six · month 3+

Audience growth and monetisation

Once your catalogue has depth, we shift focus to growth. We analyse listener drop-off data, optimise episode titles and descriptions for search, build cross-promotion partnerships with complementary shows, and prepare your media kit for sponsorship outreach. Several of our clients secured their first paid sponsor within six months of launch.

Inside the studio pipeline

Our production chain is built for consistency and speed. Raw audio enters a five-stage pipeline: noise profiling and removal, dialogue isolation, dynamic range compression with parallel processing, spectral repair for mouth clicks and breaths, and final loudness normalisation. Every episode exits at broadcast standard regardless of how it was recorded.

We use iZotope RX for restoration, a custom Pro Tools template for mixing, and Auphonic for final loudness verification. Remote guests are recorded on separate local tracks via Riverside or Squadcast — we never rely on a single mixed-down recording. This means if one guest has a noisy environment, we can treat their track independently without degrading the host audio.

"The difference between our raw recording and the delivered file is night and day. They caught background hum I didn't even notice." — Callum Renwick, host of Deep Mechanics

All tracks are available as standalone engagements or combined into a single retainer. Pricing is scoped per project — reach out and we will quote within 24 hours.

Is this the right fit?

We work best with people and organisations who match these criteria. If most of these resonate, we should talk.

  • You have a clear subject-matter focus — you know what your show is about even if the format is still open
  • You can commit to a regular recording cadence (weekly, fortnightly, or seasonal batches)
  • You value production quality and understand that listener retention depends on audio experience
  • You want a collaborative partner, not a faceless upload service
  • You are building a podcast to serve a business, brand, or professional profile — not as a casual hobby

We deliberately keep our active client list small — typically under thirty concurrent shows — so that every project receives hands-on attention from a senior producer rather than being routed through a template-driven assembly line. If we are at capacity when you reach out, we will tell you honestly and offer a realistic start date.

Frequently asked

Do I need my own equipment to get started?

Not necessarily. If you are recording remotely, we provide a recommended gear list at three price points (budget, mid-range, and professional). If you prefer to record in our Queensland studio, all equipment is provided. Many of our clients started with a USB microphone and upgraded later once the show gained traction.

How long before my podcast appears on Spotify and Apple?

Apple Podcasts typically takes 24 to 72 hours for initial review. Spotify is usually live within a few hours of RSS submission. We submit to all major directories simultaneously and monitor each listing until it is verified and displaying correctly.

Can you edit a podcast I have already been producing myself?

Absolutely. About a third of our retainer clients come to us with existing shows that need a production upgrade. We will listen to your recent episodes, identify areas for improvement, and integrate seamlessly into your existing workflow. There is no requirement to start from scratch.

What does a typical turnaround look like?

Standard turnaround is 48 hours from the time we receive your raw files. Rush delivery within 24 hours is available at no extra charge for retainer clients. We schedule our production calendar around your release day so there is never a last-minute scramble.

Do you handle video podcasts?

We focus on audio-first production, but we can coordinate with video editors in our network for simulcast workflows. If you record video alongside audio, we ensure the audio master syncs perfectly with your video timeline and provide export specs for YouTube and social platforms.
